1st Experiences

Kyle-his first experience being bit by a mosquito!
Of course, the mean mosquito purposely did it on his face.

Sean-his first experience to join a Japanese preschool.
The photo is showing what the preschool lunch is. They are a lot healthier than American school lunch!!
I was impressed.
Look at how they all set up their own place mat etc and even using their chopsticks!

Sean ended up not liking the preschool since there is only one teacher for 25kids(I don't know how these teachers make it through a day..lol) and Sean needs more special help.
But something he misses would be the lunch, I'm sure:)

Move 引越し

04-28-2012 left Boulder for Utah
05-07-2012 left Utah for Hiroshima

Hiroshima- my home!
A view from my house. You can see the whole city of Hiroshima and the ocean.
Something we missed in Colorado! The Ocean:)

Sean and Miyajima deer..they are everywhere. You are not supposed to feed them but...
You can tell what Ian did..

It says "8min walk (6 if you run a little!)" haha

Disability 障害

Right before we left Boulder, we decided to have a medical team check Sean since we wanted to know what exactly he has due to our new insurance plan that we will be on in Hawaii.
They diagnosed him as a child with ASD(autism spectrum disorder). He doesn't have a serious autism but he has enough symptoms to show that he does have a minor autism.

The doctor was very nice and tell me not to worry too much about it but do get therapists for him continually.
On the way back home, I was almost in tears. The diagnose really did clear up my mind and helped me to see my son a lot clearly. Till this point, I was feeling lonely just by seeing my son not being able to do any of the things that the kids in his age could normally do. I felt being left behind with him so many times.(and even now, I still feel like it sometimes just because I am so far from being a perfect human being!) But it certainly helped me to accept him as he is and gave me a good motivation for me to be a better helper for him.

The doctor gave me a book to read and it's called "Ten Things Every Child With Autism Wish You Knew".
If you are interested, read this book! If you don't think you have time to read, take a few minutes to watch this video. I want more and more people to know these facts so that we know what do expect from those children with autism like Sean.

10 Things Every Child With Autism Want You to Know
