Fall Break

All the public schools here have a week off due to "fall break"
They really don't study! haha
We decided to have fun and do something that we don't get to do too often.
First, Ian made our bed frame! It was his first DIY project but for the first time, he did a great job and it amazed me!! He even did it in half a day.

Next was camping.
We went down south to see volcano.
We were lucky to be able to see an active one this time.
The earth is living!

A small town called "Naalehu"
Despite of our image of an old town in dry desert, this town has full of greens everywhere and is actually a beautiful little town. We loved it!

We found our church there, too. This church was light up during the night and it looked really pretty.

Nothing really looks like "fall" but it was indeed our fall break!

Creativity

Our son makes us worry with things he can't do BUT he surprises us many times with something he CAN do!

Lately, all he talks about is "dinosaurs"
One of the things that he surprised us today was this
He made it all by himself!
(Somehow I couldn't rotate it.. Sorry!)

The Cook

Lately, someone wants to stand in the kitchen with me a lot.
Today, he had a dinosaur suit on was playing with his brother.
But as soon as I was in the kitchen, he was ready to cook, even in his dinosaur suit! haha

Horse Therapy

I heard about a lady who is doing a physical therapy for children with autism.  So, I took Sean there for the first time. Though, it was for Sean, Kyle insisted on riding the horse.lol Here they are on a horse:) They both loved it!

I think a reason why they look cute in this picture is that the huge helmets that they put on. haha

自然 Nature

I got tired of taking the boys to the park so I decided to take them to the ocean in stead

Open wide space and no one there! I thought they would run around.. but in stead, they stayed in this little tiny tide pool:)

We met a turtle again. He was resting on the beach.

Obon dance

It was my first time seeing "Obon dance" in the out side of Japan. They held it here in Waimea! I was impressed.

Yukata with Hawaiian design on it.

Long time ago, many people from Japan immigrated to Hawaii to work in the plantations.
They were treated like animals and had a difficult time adjusting to a whole new world. When I saw what their postarity has inherited, I felt that those people missed their home land which is too far to go back. We are losing a lot of our traditions in Japan, and I'm sad to admit that I am one of them who don't know those traditions much. However, when I saw this event in Hawaii and saw younger generations enjoying it, I felt like those first Japanese's spirits were there.

New Life

Our stuff arrived! Total of six boxes. Thank you for all of you who helped us with all the shipping process. We appreciate each of you.

A road to the beach

We were here for only two Sundays and Kyle already got his birthday quilt and a crown from his nursery class. Such a welcoming ward.

On a way back from shopping, he wanted to stop by at a beach. Since we didn't plan for it, he didn't have anything to wear.. a naked boy at a beach. lol

He is HAPPY!

In the afternoon, he ran into a bush and was covered with seeds and so was his brother.. I cried..

Ian went spear fishing with his friend and got these for out dinner!

At a play group

Kyle's Birthday

Since we are in Hawaii, we thought of being a little creative and celebrate his 2nd birthday at a beach.

。The dark thing in the basket is his birthday cake. Since it was very windy at the beach, it took some effort for us to light up the candles. Kyle didn't need to blow it out. The wind did it for him:P

A turtle came!

More than anybody, I was the one that was very excited

Happy Birthday, Kyle.

新居 New Home

Our new home is on the left and on the right is Ian's school where he teaches.
A view from a back of our house. It doesn't get cleared up like this too often but when it does, you can see Mt.Mauna Kea and its observatory from the bottom. The rest is ranch.

The only park in Waimea but it has lots of wooden structures that kids can play and run around. I love it!

Typical sky in Waimea : a half sunny and a half cloudy or rainy sky. Since we are in the middle of the island which has totally different climates, we have this strange weather conditions.

A view on a high way from Kona. Lava all over the place.

The view on this high way changes dramatically.

Leaving Japan

My cousin who lives in Tokyo came to Haneda airport to see us. She even played with the kids! Thanks for the help!!!

。After we said good bye to my cousin, I had two small suits cases, two back packs, a stroller AND two kids! Thank goodness for my parents who purchased expensive ANA(japanese airline)'s tickets for us. A lady from ANA came by in a little golf cart looking car and was waiting to help us get to the gate! Such  nice service! Somehow, the car was playing a cute ice cream car melody as we went through the airport hallway but the kids thought that it was the coolest thing ever~ haha

The kids slept most of the way. YAY! But we had a four hour lay over at Honolulu airport. The kids were both exhausted due to the jet lag but one of them was transfixed as he looked at all the cool looking airplanes passing by him:)

It had been twenty hours since we left my parents' house in Hiroshima! Finally we were reunited as a family! The kids looked very happy to see their dad.
